Got ACS successful assessment but I want to apply for New Zealand

I have a bachelor degree in IT from university in London and 5 years experience in relevant field. I have couple of questions:
Where to check university listings for New Zealand?
Also, I need to know whether I need an assessment from NZQA if I already have the assessment done from ACS (Australian Computer Society) under ANZSCO 263111 (Computer Network and System Engineer) category. I was planning to apply Australian immigration under skilled migrant program but I couldn’t score 6.5 band in each module in IELTS. However I have obtained 7 band overall.
Please provide your guidance.

Hi Ahmed

Yes you need to access your qualification and work ex for NZ immigration/job visa from NZQA, which is their accessing authority. ACS assessment is of no use for NZ immigration.

For NZ univ listing you can surf the internet, there are several websites provide ranking to worldwide univ.
For you info, Univ of Auckland and AUT are best ranking univ there in NZ.
Hope this info is helpful for you.

Thanks Cheema.
I see you applied for NZ, I need to get more information on preparing documents New Zealand immigration under skilled migrant program, I am not interested in NZ universities as I am not looking for student visa.
Do you mind me asking where are you from? Pakistan? If yes, may I have your phone number (drop me in an email xxxxxx - no personal info)? I would really appreciate your help.

Regards,
Ahmed.

OK, let me start with few initial questions for New Zealand Immigration.
Since I am done with IELTS (Listening: 8.5, Reading: 6, Writing: 5.5, Speaking: 7, Overall: 7). I believe next step is assessment. My question is
Do I need to have Pre Assessment done or straight go for Internal Qualification Assessment?
After getting assessment done, what are the next steps, EOI?
Anything else do I need to get done?

#6 ·
If the qualifications you want to claim for aren't on the exemption list then they must be assessed first.
PAR is designed to give a cheaper quicker result than FULL assessment so this would be the normal way to go for the EOI.
You shouldn't need to do anything else once you receive some sort of assessment result. You can now submit EOI and wait.
What about your points score - what do you think you score ?

#7 ·
ok, that sounds great.
My score is 130, please see the details and advise

• 4+ years work experience: 15 points
• Bonus points for work experience in an identified future growth area: 10 points
• Bonus points for work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage: 10 points
• Recognized level 7 or 8 qualification (e.g. bachelor degree, bachelor degree with
Honours): 50 points
• Qualification in an identified future growth area: 10 points
• Qualification in an area of absolute skill shortage: 10 points
• Age 30 years: 25 points
• Total: 130 points
If I claim my partner’s qualification points I can get 20 additional points which make my point total as 150….but to claim partner’s qualification I need to get her degrees assessed by NZQA (which is another NZD 700+), How can I get another 10 points without this additional expense of partner’s NZQA assessment and off course IELTS cost ($200) would incur for my partner as well.

Good score but without a job offer you have little chance of your EOI being selected at 130 points.
If you are serious about wanting to come to NZ then you will need your partners points to get your EOI over the magical 140 for automatic selection.
The extra money for assessment and IELTS is a small price to pay to get you over the line and virtually guarantee ITA from Immigration.

Unfortunately Immigration to a new country cannot be done on a small budget!
It is and always will be a costly exercise.

Good luck

Hmmm I understand. OK, let me put some more money on this budget and apply assessment for my partner too as I am serious about NZ and I can't wait to be there.
Correct me if I am wrong, I just need her education assessed...not work experience, right? and I am hopeful to get her degrees assessed as level 7 or 8 which means 20 points, right?

#10 ·
Hi,
Yes it's just the qualification that is assessed, not work experience and assuming you get level 7 or 8 for it via assessment you will get an extra 20 points for the EOI.

Hi Manish

I am not an immigration consultant, so cannot answer anything for sure.
But as far I see your details, your education is mostly part-time and work exp is full time, so I am not sure whether you can claim points for education or not.

If you are seriously thinking about immigration to NZ, then I would suggest you to file pre-assesment for your education and see what they come up with in the reply. If you got positive assessment then I think you are good to apply EOI and move ahead with the process.

Or else, you can take advise from an immigration consultant. Try to refer a good one, otherwise most of them are fake and show you the wrong way.
Hope this will help you to move in some direction.

Thanks CHeema!

You are the best and valuable member of this forum. Once again I would like to say thanks for the valuable and important information.

1) Yes, I am looking seriously about NZ PR.
2) Can you guide ma or explain? How to file pre-assessment for the education and experience?
3) If you know any good and trusted an immigration consultant please advise me her/is name and address.
4) How many time it will take for all the process for getting a PR?
5) What will be the total cost for all the process starting from beginning to End?

Thank you very much for the answer.

Regard,
Manish

Firstly you need to check if your institute and qualification both are on exemption list or not. You will get this information at Immigration New Zealand

If it is there then you dont need to go for PAR assessment, if any of them is not there on the list then file PAR at below link:
Apply for a Pre-assessment Result » NZQA

Fees for EOI is around 25k and visa fee is around 1lac INR.
Other cost include, medical, Police clearance certificate, PAR and IQA (full assessment ) if required.

If you are claiming points for your spouse then you need to assess her qualification as well if her qualification and institute is not listed in the exemption list. PAR will cost 7k INR and IQA cost 35k for each applicant.

And on an average it will take more than 1 year for the whole process since EOI filling.

Thanks Cheema!!

1) Can you please also provide me the IQA link for the full assessment.

2) is any assessment for the Experience ? Means, no need to assess my exp. or it will be latter.

3) My spouse is not working. She has hold a only Master degree. Means, she will be eligible for points.

3) When we will need of IELTS score?. It will be before the PAR or After the EOI.

4) Visa fee is 1 Lakh. it is for single applicant and All family members Like in my case me,spouse and one 4 years child. What will be visa fee in my case.

5) Is any funds need to show the Visa Officer like bank statements or else if yes then what will be the total amount or no need to show any funds if NO it better for me!!!!!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Manish

Replies in Bold:

1) Can you please also provide me the IQA link for the full assessment.
when you login to PAR link, there is another link for IQA
2) is any assessment for the Experience ? Means, no need to assess my exp. or it will be latter.
You need to send your job related documents for PAR and IQA, but they only access education. You need to convince Case officer with the proof like joining letter, experience letter about the authenticity of experience and roles as well.

3) My spouse is not working. She has hold a only Master degree. Means, she will be eligible for points.
She doesnot need to show work experience, just education and IELTS 6.5 overall.

3) When we will need of IELTS score?. It will be before the PAR or After the EOI.
You need IELTS after EOI and even after you get the ITA(invite)

4) Visa fee is 1 Lakh. it is for single applicant and All family members Like in my case me,spouse and one 4 years child. What will be visa fee in my case.
That fees is for family.
5) Is any funds need to show the Visa Officer like bank statements or else if yes then what will be the total amount or no need to show any funds if NO it better for me!!!!!

I dont think you need to show any monitory sums to show as savings. As far as my understanding is concern, there is no such need.

I recommend you to surf the NZ immigration website for more details, to understand the whole process. You can also surf this forum and check other threads to get more information.

Hi Harman/Cheema,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry for asking more and more question.

I have a few question regarding NZ PR.

1) Can you please give me brief description about all the step which is include in PR process if you have some free time like First step will be file PAR , EOI and next.... to End. Means Starting from begin to end( Visa approval) because, I am planning to file PR for NZ ASAP. With help of all respected senior members! without hire an immigration consultant.

2) As you said, i have to submit all docs related to my job likes offer latter, promotion letter, experience letter, salary slip, appraisal letter and also letter from my employer including my roles and responsibilities on the company letter head like we send to ACS Australia ?????? or just few docs like offer letter and experience letter.

3) Education: > i have two degree and one Diploma which one will be send to PAR. For Example 1) i did my BA(2003) from Delhi University it is trough correspondence not regular degree. 2) I did my Two Years diploma in computer(2003) from NIIT New Delhi. 3) I did my MCA from Sikkim Manipal University in 2009. It is also Distance learning Education. Not regular. I started my Job as a Software Engineer since May,2006 to till date without any break. Its full time and permanent position. But My major qualification MCA has been completed in 2009.

4) I want to claim 60 point from my education MCA. Is it possible??? and as well as experience.

PLEASE ADVISE ME WHICH ONE WILL BE THE BEST FOR ME. Means, which one qualification i need to send for PAR because i just visited the PAR site. It’s clearly mentioned there we assess only one Education docs for one time not two and more.

5) If I got +ve PAR. Means, I will get +ve IQA as well. Or is any different result would come in future from IQA??? like -ve assessment from IQA!!!

6) After EOI or after I get the ITA(invite) What will be duration between EOI, ITA and file next step??. Means, Can it take some gap after the ITA(Invite) If I can what will be max duration????

Thanks in advance!!

Please reply I really need your help and guidance.

Manish

Hi manish

You seriously ask too many questions. Thats why I asked you to refer the NZ immigration site. All the info provided is enough to clear most of your doubts.
Anyways, her are replies, best I can provide.

1.After getting positive PAR assessment, you can file EOI and if you score more than 140 then your EOI will be automatically selected in the next pickup cycle ( every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month). If you score less than 140, then it will be picked by immigration staff as per their need. They give preference to the EOI's with job offers. Once they select you, you will get an invite (ITA) in 14 days. After that you have 4 months to finish all the documentation, get the IQA done, medicals, IELTS, PCC. You need to submit your file with all these within 4 months time. The it takes, 3 months to allocate a case officer. Once it is allocated, then he will take its own sweet time to go through file and if they need anything else, you need to provide the same. There is no time frame for this phase, as it varies case to case. Once they are done with the process, they will schedule an interview ( either in person or on call). General interview to check how much you are aware and prepared for moving to NZ. Once it is done, it will take another month for visa stamping.

2. All these mentioned documents would be sufficient for job provability.

3. It depends upon them, I am not sure about the rule if you can claim points for correspondence degree. But I think you should opt for MCA instead of BA.

4. You can try by assessing your MCA, job points you will get anyways.

5. PAR is just an initial assessment and does not guarantee IQA assessment. However, IQA assessment is for sure.

6. Maximum time you will get is 4 months, which you may extend by requesting the immigration, and its solely upon them to extend your ITA validity.

Thanks Cheema!!!

This is the last question from you pls reply it. I am sorry... asking to you one more question!!

But believe be it really very help full to me. I would like to thanks once again for your reply.

1) If i go with MCA to PAR. Can i claim max points for my experience? which is i have total 7 + years. It is including both pre and post MCA. Means, started job since May, 2006 to till date. And my MCA has been completed in 2009. Or I can claim only post MCA experience Which is i have 4 + Years. It means, i am eligible for only 15 pints instead of 20 7+years of Exp. Or i can claim 20 point for 7+years exp. Mean, at the time of interview with CO. I can prove it 7+ years and awarded by full point which is 20.

Thanks in advance.

Manish

Hi manish

This is in hands of immigration authority if they want to give you 20 points for experience or 15.
This will be checked by them once they select your EOI and see if the points claimed by you are valid or not. I dont have any say in this. You may consult immigration consultant to verify this.

Hi,

I believe you can claim the bonus points for qualifications and associated work experience, but you can only claim for the period of work experience post qualification.
So for example......If you have been working as a software engineer since 2000 but only gained your claimed qualification in 2005 then you only have 8 years post qualification experience. You can't claim for the other 5 years Pre qualification.

Hi All Expat Experts,

I have prepared all the documents for NZQA and going to submit the application for IQA straight rather then getting PAR done. Is this advisable?
Another question is about sending original document, do they need to be certified from Foreign office of Pakistan or they are good to be send as is.

Look forward for your reply.

Hi,

Yes and No.

Advantages of PAR:
The cost is much less than IQA.
PAR is completed within 20 days.
It is all submitted and completed on line without the need to supply documents.

Disadvantages of PAR:
It is often the case that PAR doesn't establish an equivalent level of qualification as NZQA don't have enough information to go on. This means the only option then is IQA.
If you get a result and use this for your EOI, you must then get IQA to provide the necessary guarantee for the formal Residency application if you receive ITA.
PAR isn't a guaranteed result. It is just an indication of the level you should be able to claim.

Advantages of IQA:
Full assessment will give a guaranteed result.

Disadvantages of IQA:
It is a lot more expensive.
It takes longer to get a result.
You must physically provide the qualification and course details in full - originals or certified copies.
If you pay the money and subsequently do not receive IQA you have wasted a lot more time and money.

I you are sending original documentation I don't think they need certifying as original documents. NZQA will establish that they are originals first before proceeding with the assessment.

Hi All expat members, greetings..!

I am exploring PR process for NZ and been through couple of threads.

Hi Cheema / Manish / Ahmed ,

Since the discussion thread is of 2013 mid , wanted to check if you all are done with your PR process and what have been your experience in whole procedure.

Your feedback will give me an indicator on the dos and don't during whole process as you all have followed different approach ( ie direct PAR -> EOI + IQA / direct IQA - > EOI ) etc..

a brief query on qualification with respect to work assessment..
I am MBA International Marketing (1998) , BTech Chemical Technology ( 1996)
and into IT since 2000 and as Business Analyst / Business Consultant role / Senior Business Analyst as on date ( 15 years ) ANZAC code 261111 ICT Business Analyst ( already completed ACS for qualification and experience).

For work experience assessment , if my work experience can to be supported by an MBA qualification or is it that an IT degree is expected.

Awaiting to get feedback from you all.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Nitin
