could anyone please advise me what is the quickest way of getting to canada as a police officer, ontario. i have been a police officer for 20 years in the uk, and desperately want to move within the job, to ontario

The next several years will see lots of retirements from the Policing ranks in Ontario creating a fair hiring need. The problem is no Police Services are actively recruiting UK officers. I know lots who have left the UK and are in fact policing in Ontario but they had to go through the immigration process first and then apply. The good news is a lot of Services lined up to hire them once they saw their experience.

Currently the quickest way to Policing in Canada is through Alberta (Edmonton and Calgary Police) Both Services have hired direct from the UK and have used the PNP program to fast track applicants into the country. There are a few that have gone this route and then once trained in Canada, have applied to the Ontario Services. This approach however will not win you any friends with the Alberta Police Services as they obviously don't appreciate losing people after helping them get here.

The Ontario Provincial Police were rumored to be considering a direct hiring approach similar to Calgary and Edmonton but decided against it when their local applications increased due to the economy and plant closures etc.
