Default scottish family seeking advice

we are a family who are seeking to move to vancouver. I am a plumber/heating engineer and my wife is a nursery teacher here in scotland. We have family in Vancouver already and are wondering if anyone knows if they can sponsor us to live in canada.

Also the best places for me to find work and get a job offer.

thanks

I can only tell you that for many, many years, south east asians have sponsored family members by the droves,oh,sorry, you are not one of those!
To sponser people, you have to be responsible for them, thier living, housing, crimes and everything else that comes with the sponserd family,on the good side however, they will be able to claim whatever is available in social services, this may have changed but worth looking into.
Your family, already in Vancouver, should be able to find out practically all you will need to know and what to expect if and when you arrive, there are all kinds of government services and help available, take advantage of them to the fullest extent, the east indians in Vancouver do!!!Being Scottish, you may even be able to make claims as an ethnic applicant, my warped British sense of humour, despite being out of the country for some fourty odd years,do not lose yours as it will help you maintain your current level of sanity LOL.
Seriously,i say get your family to do this on your behalf as i do not think thier questioning will be recorded, whereas for sure yours will be as a new hopefull immigrant.
Skills are another problem,Canada has this thing that Canadians are so different from other human species of the world, you need to be retrained in whatever you have competence in and have done for a zillion years. It used to be,maybe still is,that even hairdressers needed retraining,i think Canadian hair must grow up or something along those lines.
Do not be daunted,Canada is a good place to live, and from what i read these days, far superior to the horrendous life led by true Brits in thier own country today, there are a multitude of opportunities and ways to make a living.I applied for my auto mechanics licence and was turned down despite 20 years experience including being an upgrade instructor in the British army, being true Brit i told them where to put thier piece of useless paper.I got a job at General Electric AS A MACHINE ATTENDANT on my first applIcation because of my EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUISINESS .I repaired cars in my back yard for extra income for many years with many satisfied customers. All it takes is will-power,just get in the country whatever means it takes and grow from there.Colin

Plumbers can be union or nonunion. Union pays much more-friends who got into the union found they made a much better living-so worth the effort(esp with the expense of the Vancouver area). Check the area for unions. I found Welcome to the UA Local 324 - Victoria, British Columbia Canada
Trades do very well here-and we constantly need more! Hopefully they won't make it too complicated. Canadians can't figure out why very qualified people are accepted and then not allowed to work in their fields. Just ask doctors. But they are crying for tradesmen. Start asking what is required. Good luck!
