Default Finally in Canada !!!!

Well brothers and sisters,

It was a long journey from texas to Toronto but I made it . Now I am writting from my rented room here in toronto. I have to say it is not as nice as my apartment in houston but I am looking forward to this adventure.

I want to thank every one for the necessary answers to my questions. I think this forum is a really good idea. I will keep you updated on my job search here.
cheers!

I am not much into it. I have been teaching math in high school for the past three years and have been out of accounting for this time. However I want to get back to it right now. I will try to register with the Certified Accountants of Ontario and see what more classes I need to take to sit for the CA exam.
If you can send me any websites that you can. Anything helps.

Are you working right now? I will also consider banking/finance because I also have a bachelor in finance.
Thanks for your concern.

Im now on the ground and just started looking. Have a few recruiters I am going to meet with (or try to meet with). I have generally heard the market is slipping here so it will be tougher....

Id recommend the following sites for accounting jobs:
efinancialcareers.com
workopolis.com
monster.ca (obvious)
craigslist.com (this one is a surprise but you wont believe how many ppl get jobs from this site)

Not sure where you landed but Calgary is more open right now vs. other areas. So better chances there. Again that was a few months back and its all hearsay....I usually just focus on my own skills and not pay attention to the gossip...but its hard not to.

Might be a good idea to get in touch with a recruiter who might be better able to advise you since you have not been in the field for a while. I think sitting for the CA exam would definitely help.

Good Luck..buckle up...its going to be rocky..

Thank you Newbie_CAN_USA. I am prepared mentally for this now. I have landed in Toronto becasue I thought that this is the financial capital of canada and I would have better chances of finding a job in my field here.

We need to stay in touch to exchange information. I could give you my email address and send it to yoou as a private message. Let me know.
