Default medication and medical examination help needed please

need help,

I have left threads before on this forum, but I need some question answered about cost of medication.

I need to know if its worth my while moving to canada. We gave up hope, and now we realy realy want to move over.

To refresh my situation, I am a canadin citizen, my husband and 2 children aren't. He has a condition called carcinoid syndrom (benine tumours in his liver). It doesn't stop him working but requires expensive injection once a month.

I know could sponser them, but I eed to know ho much compared to scotland are injections. Its cost £800.00 a month. I know i could get a job that could cover drug costs, but I assume that it would hav to b a professonal position.

Has anyone been through what I am tying to do, or do you have any answers for me. I don't think there would be any problems with him passing a medical exam, but again I'm not 100% sure.

If someone could help, It would be most appreciated.

The general rule, as I understand it, is that if it's going to cost the Canadian health system in excess of $5,000 per annum then he will not be permitted to immigrate.

Thank you for replying.

I was speaking to a lady in toronto today, and she as saying that as myself and my husband have been married a while and I am a canadian citizen, he should be covered. Is this true. have been searching for information on this and have found nothing. We don't want to pay and have the medical exam and then find out a year later we can't get in.

As far as I know you being a Canadian citizen has no bearing on the matter, but I could be wrong.

I he is allowed to immigrate to Canada (because he's being married to a Canadian, for instance), than he will get OHIP if you move to Ontario. This is our provincial health care. But as far as I know, it doesn't cover medication!
It covers things as your visits to the (family) doctor. And for the rest: Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care - Public Information - Ontario Health Insurance Plan - Health Services

If you or he finds a job with additional health coverage, depending on the employer, it covers (almost) all medication, or it only covers a certain amount/year. So it's probably hard to find out up front...

Can you give me the generic name (or brand name, it doesn't matter) of the injection that your husband needs? I can look up the cost of the drug when I get to w*rk today (I work at a pharmacy and can look it up in our wholesaler's catalouge... I start at midnight, GMT) and tell you approximately how much it might cost out of pocket for you to get your husband's injection lest Pharmacare (in BC) or OHIP (in Ontario) doesn't cover it and you don't have extended medical.

What you can do: contact a doctor in your region who's doing the medical examinations for Canada, and explain him your husbands case. Ask him if this is subject to rejection. Often, these people know.
I also know about people with chronical diseases who immigrated, and who had a letter from their specialist doctor with them when they went for the medical examination (with info about your status being stable or not and so on). A couple of them needed an extra medical (more profound) examination in a hospital, but at the end, they were ok).
