Default PR info

Hi all

We have been given our PR paper work and need to activate it by feb 2013. We were wondering how long we have to stay in Ontario after activating our visas before we can make the trip back to the UK as one of my kids finishes school later in the year and my job isn't due to fin till later that year being made redundant.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You could, if you wished, arrive in say Toronto at 3pm, wait in the airport and take the 7pm flight back. Once you've activated the visa you come under the 2 out of 5 rule.
Good Luck.

Hi Deano

Do you mind me asking you how long it took for you to get your PR ?

We are going to Quebec as Skilled Workers, received our CSQ Certificate for Quebec back in February, then it took us ages to get the Police Certs together (hubby and I have lived in many different countries so had to get Police Certs for every single place !)

Nova Scotia has notified us a few weeks ago (around 7 August) that our PR application is COMPLETE....hooraaaah !

The next stage for us is the medicals. Just waiting for London to send us letters to get our medicals done.

The Canada website says applications from London for Skilled Workers Class are taking 10 months.

Was it around 10 months for you to get your PR ? Was it 10 months AFTER the medicals, or was the whole process 10 months ?

Any replies much appreciated.

Hi

It only took 4 months from doing our medicals till our PR paperwork came through, they ask for your passports to be sent and all relevant info is attached when sent back.

Then you then have a year to activate the visa which is back dated to the date you did your medicals.

I hope that helps we cant wait to go looking forward to new possibilities

Deano

Thanks so much, Deano, sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread

So pleased to hear it's only 4 months, was panicking that it might actually be another 10 months

I'm desparate to leave too, so looking forward to a new life, esp. for our 8 year old boy to get there asap as he has to learn French first and then settle into his new and exciting new school life !

We are going to Montreal.

Best of luck to you, which city do you wish to settle in ?
