Default Got my residency and some questions..

So yesterday I got my permanent residency papers woohoo!! And I will be permanently moving to Canada is just over a month.

Question though, because I will be living in Vancouver and Ive got lots of friends in Seattle (only a 2 hour drive away) as well I also want to do a long distance post grad course thats based in Seattle where Id only need to go to physical classes only 4x a year. Will I be even allowed to enter the US (not to live!) but to do stuff on a Canadian Residency??

I don't wanna cross the border for a day only to be deported once I get back in Canada...

Kiakaha - There's no problem popping down to the US on a Canadian permanent resident card, some do it each week to shop in Walmart and get cheap gas! - At the US border, first time, you'll need to complete a visa application, it lasts three months. We got lucky in that there wasn't a huge line-up and had no problems (there's also a fee, can't remember how much but token amount). Not sure how they'll feel about your course in Seattle (The US border); as long as it doesn't look like work in ANY way you should be ok, someone elase may be able to comment on that.
Getting back into Canada you show your permie resident card, they'll ask you why you've been visiting and how much goods your bringing back
Seattle may be 2hrs drive but look at border wait times website and work out when best to go otherwise you could have an additional +1hr line-up to get into US.
Have fun

If you're studying in the US you'll almost certainly need a student visa.

Being a permanent resident of Canada isn't as relevant as your citizenship. So contact the school ASAP and verify the requirements. If you get a snarky US Border agent and you've not done things properly they can put a 5 year or lifetime exclusion on you.
