Default Extending Visitor Status

I am from the US, and I have been in Canada for almost 5 months now. My status is just "visitor." I have no intent on leaving anytime soon, so I wanted to apply to extend my visitor status for the time being (I realize I have to apply 30 days before my status expires). I am engaged, and as soon as my fiance and I get married, we will apply for sponsorship/permanent residency.

My question is this: What should I mention (or not mention) when completing the online form for visitor status extension? I do not have a job (obviously), and my fiance supports me while I'm here.

Also, what should I expect? Do they interview people ever? Is it possible they'll make me leave the country and re-enter?

One more thing.....my passport was not stamped at the border, and when I called the border agency, they just told me that 6 months from the date I entered would be my expiration date. Is that right?

Thank you so much for your help!

It is always smart to be frank and honest with the Immigration people. Tell them why you want an extension and what your long term plans are. They may make you leave and apply again at the border but the chances are you'll be granted an extension by mail.

That's what I thought. Honesty is usually always the best policy with everything.

Thank you so much for your help. You spend a lot of time answering everyone's questions, I've noticed, and we all appreciate it.
