Default Study Visa to get IEC Visa.

Hi Guys,

Does anybody know, do you have to have an acceptence letter from a School in Canada before you can apply for a study visa? Me and my husband have applied under the IEC programme, and have been notified by them to complete our application we need to send in a copy of a study permit for our 8 year old daughter. I thought we could bring our children in to Canada on a visitors visa and apply for her study permit whilst there, but this is not the case. We have no idea what school we want to send our child too as we need to find accomadation in the catchment area of the school and untill we get there we don't know where we are going to be living. I've read it can take between 8 and 10 weeks to process a study permit and I don't want to send the application back with no school name and address info if this is likely to delay us further already been waiting since March for this visa to come through. I've tried ringing the commisioners in London but cannot get any answer.. Help... Thanks is advance.

Ok have since found out there is no need to have a placement and letter from a school over that side as we her parents are applying under the IEC scheme. Now for the next hurdle. The fee for getting a study visa is $125, there is no mention if you can pay a sterling bank draft from a Republic of Ireland banck account (they don't accept Euro's of any shape or form, cheque, bank draft). Have been to my local bank for them to order me in a Canadian Bank draft will take best part of a week. Any advice from Irish mum's who have applied for study visors for the children would be so greatly appreciated. There is a Barclays Bank account mentioned that I presume you can transfer the money into but this is going to be an international transfer. Is this even possible??? Thanks
