Default Expat Tax Relief UK

I am just wondering if there is tax relief in the UK for Australian expats?

Is rent tax deductible?
Are school fees tax deductible?
Is there an away from home allowance?
What happens if I am based in London but also spend some of my time throughout the year in other countries?
Are there any other deductions that I should be aware of?
I had a mate who was a BA pilot who set himself up as an Irish tax resident but did not live there enough days of the year to pay tax. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for your advise.....

It depends on the structure that you're paid through. If you are a permanent employee you cant claim any deductions at all. Schooling isnt tax deductible under any circumstances, because the state schooling is free.

If you are a contract or freelance then the possibilities are much greater. You can claim allowances for travel, potentially for a home office if you work from home, subsistence when you are away, etc. PM me if you want more information as it really depends on your circumstances, whether you are married, etc.
