Question How 'settled' are most people in London around 30?

Hi, I just came across this forum and i've got a bit of a question.

About 8-9 years ago, I graduated Uni, moved to London on the BUNAC program, which ran out and I went back to the US. Since then, i've gotten my Italian/EU Citizenship, so I can easily work in the UK (so that's no issue, at all), but i'm wondering how people are, in general, at my age.

What I mean is that when I moved to London at 21, there were tons of people who were just going out and living it up. You had the commonwealth people doing their 1-2 year freebie over there, other people finishing Uni and moving there, so, socially, there was always tons to do.

But, now that I'm 30 (not married or kids), I'm wondering if most people my age have gotten married off or are fully 'settled down', not doing much but sitting in and having dinner parties or talking about baby food, leaving the social situation a little bit bleak. And, while I've got not issue being around young ones, I'm not going to be "that old geezer" everyone's laughing about at the club.

So, are most people my age completely 'settled down' or is it more like NYC where people are still living it up for quite a while?

The last thing I want to do is move back to London, only to be stuck at uncomfortable dinner parties as the only single guy around six couples talking about diapers, if you know what I mean.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Although I am one of those old married couples who is always talking about the kids, I am sure that there are still many young 30 somethings having a good time in London. People appear to be getting married much later and of course the divorce rate for young people is rising, so I am sure all these people don't just sit at home.................

Hopefully there is a 30 something person out there who can back me up.

Regards

Michelle

I'm one of the "old married folk". LOL Honestly, I spend a lot of time in London, as we have a flat there as well, and I see many 30 somethings enjoying the single life. I honestly think I see more singletons than married couples in their 30's. It is definitely more like NYC, in my opinion. I think you both would be just fine!

Default London is good for everybody.

Just come along and enjoy it.

There are plenty of people of your age that are single, as a matter of fact people living on their own is one of the fastest growing segments of population in the UK.

I have no children and enjoy the company of all kinds of people and can talk about baby food if needed, I don't see why single people should have any problem if most of their friends are married with responsibilities.

As being the old geezer, well, so what? You only live once, and if that is with ladies 10 years your junior all the better
