S.Africans -Once sponsored, when can you change company?

My friends partner has been in the UK for a few years now from s.africa and works for a company which sponsors his visa. He is about to take a new job role within the same firm that sponsor him, if he takes this role, would he still be sponsored? And if not, what can he do?

Also they are looking to move in together at some point, he wants to leave the company but can't as he believes he can only work for that company. Very ristrictive! How long must he be here until he can work for any company in the UK?

Is there no way he can work for another company until this time? The current employers make him work all the hours under the sun, and really take advantage

I have tried looking on all the home office, visa etc websites for them but to be completely honest they don't make any sense to me as everything seems to contradict itself, and I believe they are changing all of the regulations now anyway making it even harder for s.africans to work in this country.

Please could someone help me, i'd be very grateful.
