Default Planning to Move to the UK

Hi
Am wondering if anybody could give me some advice from their experience. I may have an opportunity of moving to the UK. i am originally from India but spent most of my time growing up in the UK. I have a MBA from Canada and have worked within the banking industry in Toronto and also for an American bank in India. Besides my MBA, I also have a British educational qualification in the BTEC Diploma in Business & Finance.

What do you think my chanced of getting a decent paying job and what amount of salary can I expect?

Thanks,

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You certainly don't ask easy questions. I hope there is someone out there who can give you some advice.

Regards

Michelle

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

You say you "may Have an opportunity" - which sounds like you have some possibility of a job offer. Generally, it's far easier to find the job first and then have the employer handle the matter of getting the visa.

But the chances of getting a job and how much the salary will (or should) be really depend on your experience, how well you interview and the precise job you are going for. Also exactly where in the UK you will be employed.
Cheers,
Bev

Default You are too vague.

The Financial Industry is vast in London, nothing can prepare you for the size of it.

So the salaries you can get depend entirely in your specialty first, and your expertise second.

At the moment the Financial industry in London is suffering tremendously due to the sub-prime mortgage crisis and economic problems pertaining to the UK only.

If you have a job offer then take it, come and have a look and make up your mind.

As a reference regarding salaries have a look at the following website: National Statistics Online .

If you provide a bit more information about what you do it may be possible to be more precise about the level of salaries currently being paid.

Good luck.

Many thanks to all of you for your advice. I truly appreciate it.

To give you a bit more insight, I dont have a job offer but am just scoping out the HSMP visa. My experience has been within financial services in areas such as Product Management, Marketing, Operations, Six Sigma and a little risk management.

I know that the financial services industry in huge in the UK and hence the opportunities. But with that will come stiff competition and will they consider experience outside of the UK?

Thanks once again.
