Default Moving to Oxford in September

Hello all-

My name is Brian and I am going to Oxford starting in October. My wife and I are looking for a place to live, and we wanted other information that previous ex pats might have found useful for their trip across the pond. My wife is also looking for work, she's a singer-songwriter/voice over actress, but she used to be a teacher.

Any advice will help, thanks so much!

Brian

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I take it you're coming over from the US, and that you will be studying at Oxford. Have you checked into the sort of visas you will be getting? In general, a study visa will permit your wife to accompany you, but chances are she will not be allowed to work while she is there.

If you can swing it, it would probably be best for you to make a preliminary house-hunting trip, so you can take a look at places to rent. Renting without inspecting the property first can lead to some nasty surprises.
Cheers,
Bev

Hi Brian and welcome to the forum.

This is a good website to look for rental accommodation Properties for sale, homes to rent, overseas property, retirement properties and new homes on rightmove.co.uk.
