I'm going to be asking alot of you all, so I'll give a brief introduction on myself. My name is Garrett. I live in St. Louis. I'm tired of the lousy city in which I live, but more importantly I am tired of this country and its BS and feel a strong urge to move within the next year. I am financially OK here now as an investor and mechanic, and I think that life in the UK would not be such a difficult transition for me, because I plan on living off of my savings interest and a low pay job until I can get on my feet. I'm sure that I can pay up the lease for my flat for 6months in advance the minute I get there, so hopefully housing wont be too much of a concern. How hard is it to get citizenship? What all is involved in moving there? What are things that are grossly different from here, other than that the currency is way stronger....?

I thank you all in advance for any help you can provide, as I'm trying to leave before confidence in the dollar diminishes and I'll be stuck here.

Unless one of your parents was born in the UK, I think you are pretty much out of luck. It's very difficult to get residency in most European countries, let alone a work permit, and citizenship is much more difficult.

Is there any way I can get a work visa? I plan on moving in about a year or slightly longer... What do I need to start moving on to make this a reality? I don't care if it takes a while, as long as I am making progress.

-Thanks.

As far as I know, a company needs to be ready to hire you immediately. Also, you have to be able to provide something that can't be found locally. So medical professionals have a decent chance of getting in, some IT professionals also have a chance.

Is there anything you specialize in that might be particularly rare?

Hi and welcome - unfortunately it's not easy to work over here - at least not automatically, but I have been sponsored 3 times already, so it's not impossible. You can check out the government's site on the topic: www(dot)workingintheuk(dot)gov(dot)uk which gives you the options. There is a Highly Skilled Migrant Programme that might be right for you - otherwise try the sponsorship option - only problem is most employers want to interview you in person, so you need to be over here for that. Good luck!

Wales is one of the smallest and most beautiful countries in the world. The wonder of Snowdonia in North Wales, the wonderful beaches of the Gower Coast in South Wales and the quiet tranquility of Mid Wales. The people of Wales are renowned the world over as the friendliest people in the world, no exaggeration!
The capital city of Cardiff is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, vibrant, thrilling, exciting, Then you've got the nightlife, restaurants and shopping, there is no better.
If you enjoy sports or any leisure activities of any kind, and to any level, Wales can cater for it.
If you wish to purchase property the prices are so reasonable you'd be amazed.
Take a closer look and be prepared to be amazed!

If you are very qualified than you can probably get a job and get approved. However, if you are just doing a simple job than they will not approve you because they want to save the jobs for the local people.
