School options

We are moving to London this summer from New York, with our daughters (6 and 9 years old). Our dilemma is schools... maybe someone can give me some advice?

We want to live in the Hampstead/Belsize area (expensive, we know, but we fell in love with it and guess we just have to have a smaller space).

We applied to Southbank International and to the American School, and now they are accepted to different schools! They are waitlisted, but who knows...

Obviously we would prefer to have them at the same school. So, here are my questions:

* do you have experience of these schools? What do you think about them? Do you know if waitlists typically clear?

* an alternative is Woodside Park International School north of the city. It would be about a 20 min bus ride for the kids, but it might be worth it if the school is good. Does anyone have any information about it?

I'd love to get the good, the bad and the ugly about the schools from anyone with more knowledge than me!!

It's a good group of people, and they usually have contacts with all the international schools in the area. There's a "contact us" link on the website and information for newcomers to London.

They are part of the FAWCO network of American women's clubs overseas.
