IT professional looking to follow dream

I have always wanted to move abroad and work. I have 2.5 years of experience as an IT professional with a BS in computer science. Does anyone know of a place to look for jobs for expats? I am game for any non third world country. I am only fluent in English so that may be a hindrance to non English speaking countries.

The way things are today, you'd do better to take a somewhat long-term approach. Find a job you like with a large multi-national company and then get them to transfer you to a foreign post. Having a big employer backing you means you don't have to deal with the whole visa issue, and usually it means you have some form of "expat package" which can really help with the moving and set-up costs.

The UK just announced a clamp down in company's internal transfers, if the transfer puts out of work an UK settled person.

As things stand only highly specialized and talented people will be mobile, here in the UK there are thousands of people that have been made redundant in the last year, somebody with such little experience from abroad will have a hard time to find a job here at this time....

And with a zero chance of a work permit being granted, as your potential employer needs to prove absence of suitably qualified applicants in UK and throughout EU. IT jobs, even specialised, typically attract 100s and 1000s of applicants.

That's actually the sort of situation I was referring to. After several years in a large, international company, you can sometimes accumulate the sort of experience that might lead to an in-house transfer. Even working on a casual basis with some of the foreign subsidiaries (i.e. periodic business trips over to assist with projects) can give someone the type of experience that might lead to a transfer. (In essence, that's how I got over there.)

Trying to do it solo means having many, many years of experience in some highly specialized area that is unavailable in your target country.

But in any event, someone with only 2.5 years of experience in a fairly common field isn't a terribly viable candidate for an overseas job.
