Default we have made a decision

Well it looks like a decision has been made. He will be going home in January to start his job search and get an apartment.
Does anyone know how he will be able to put me on his bills, accounts etc with me being in US?
I went Friday to try and get him on my bank account...not gonna happen no SS #, which I should have known....ugh
So is it the same there?
Also, when getting an apartment, his friend has one, and its 2 bedroom. So will it look bad that it will be with a room mate?
so ...yay we finally have plans!!

Good for you. Things work differently in the UK, and I think he'll find that he can put you on his accounts, etc. as his wife.

As far as sharing the flat with a roommate, it shouldn't be a problem, but it would be best if he put both your names on the lease to show that you're responsible for paying the rent.
Cheers,
Bev

His bank account should be no problem. I am on one of my fiance's accounts and they were in no way troubled that we weren't married.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth

Well no, I doubt it's that easy. He'll need a copy of your identification, at the least, I would expect.

I would recommend calling his bank in the UK and simply asking them. Let them know that he's returning before you are, but as you are married he would like to make the account a joint account, or open a new joint account to transfer the funds into. I'm sure they can tell him what will need to be provided to do that.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth

I would suggest that, if you haven't done so yet, you register your marriage with the UK consulate - or at least ask them if you can do so. (It's possible the town hall already sent your marriage information to the consulate - I think they are supposed to do that whenever a non-citizen is married in their jurisdiction.) It will take at least a copy of your marriage certificate.

You'll obviously need an official copy of the marriage certificate for your visa application, but he should have an official copy, too, to take back to the UK. Wouldn't hurt for him to have an official copy of your birth certificate, too - and just to be safe, he should take a copy of the page of your passport that has your picture and information. (If he has all that, chances are he won't need it - but it's much easier to have too much than too little.)
Cheers,
Bev

Default Adding to bank account - in Scotland

Hi unsure if different in England, however here they needed two acceptable forms of information with my name and UK address on them and current living address to put me joint on his account. They did not accept any regular mail, but accepted our council tax bill and our insurance policies, which had my name and our UK address on them.

Another is the provisional driver's license.

Oh, our registered marriage certificate in UK confirmation letter had my name and address (UK) on it too - that would have been acceptable. They would not accept ONE, so we had to wait until we had two in my name of responsible 'senders'.
