Default Want to move and live with my girl friend in UK

Hi all,

i have been reading some of the post on this form and wow! its really good..

i was hoping someone on here can help with a dilemma im stuck with.

I am in a long distance relationship with my girl friend for the past 6 years, I live in Dubai and im originally Indian and my girlfriend is a british national living in the UK. She is 23 and has a year left for Uni and we want to take things further . but to do that and make it work we need to physically be in the same country , I've tried migration but the fact that i don't have a degree has but letting me down and the process is too long.. I understand that the only way we can live together is if we get married.

I live with my parents at the moment and she lives with her parents.
Please can someone help clarify things for me! I would really appreciate some information,

Thanks in advance

however easy that may seem.. we don't want to go that route... even tho we've been dating 6 years we still wanna live in with each other for a little while before we take the big step just to see if we would be compatible with each other... coz like i said its a long distance relationship and we would only meet on vacations and the longest vacation we've had together is 2 months (but everything great on vacations)..

thanks for your suggestion tho.. =)

I agree with you, I;ve been in the same Predicament, but The only options that I seem to have available at the moment would be to either Get married or move to a country where we can both live without Visa issues. or alternatively somehow find the money to open our own business here, which would then allow us to get the relevant Visa's

So I'm waiting for my numbers to come up in the Lottery

But been serious the most likely route is that we will live elsewhere. I'm not sure about how that would work for you. I don't know the laws re you moving to the UK

Stay as you are fella, sounds perfect. Before you know it she'll stop your football, rugby, cricket, cancel sky sports because it clashes with eastenders and stop you going to the pub with your mates...........or was that just me

Student visas are good for getting into the UK, and then allow you to switch into a Post-Study Work visa afterward (which allows you to change onto a spouse visa relatively easily). I know this isn't probably what you want to hear, but since you mentioned that you were having trouble with migration because you lacked a degree, it might be something to consider.

I am an international student in the UK (from the US) and I noticed quite a few scholarships for international students were very restrictive as to nationality. Many of them wouldn't consider me, but India was on the list of nationalities, so you might find a lot more financial assistance than I did.

For Student visa and Post-Study visa info look at UK Border Agency | Adult students and UK Border Agency | Post-study workers

Otherwise, fiance visas would allow you 6 months together, after which you would have to marry or leave the UK. It's not a lot of time, and you are not allowed to work on that visa, so it's probably not a great option for you... There's more information about this type of visa here UK Border Agency | Fiance(e)s and proposed civil partners

Sorry I don't have better news, others may know about other options of which I am unaware.

Elizabeth

Hey ! thanks for your reply, i have been looking at other post and your right the student visa option does seem like a better option, it would help me do my degree as well and make something of myself.. you said something about scholarship and financial help .. can you tell me where i could get more details bout the same ??

Regards
