hi, ive lived in costa blanca for over six years and i now want to return home to uk. when i first left uk i hated everything about it, couldnt wait to leave, but as the years have passed by i realise how wrong i was. its great in the summer when there is plenty of work..ie waitressing/bar, although the wages are really bad, you work very long hours for people that dont apriciate you, you have no rights. and your just a number, another thousand people want your job. then when winter comes they lay you off and you have no money, so all the money you earnt in summer is used to survive in the winter. last year i think i went to the beach about twice as i was always working, everyone at home thought i lay sunbathing all day...right!!! and every year is the same it dosent get any easier. ive made some good friends, had a great social life, but havent actually had a holiday for 6 years, ive worked more hours than i ever had in my life, now im trying to sell up i realise the hefty taxes i have to pay.. anybody want to buy a house just contact me, i cant wait to go back to blighty

Hiya Tweety, sorry to hear your woes.
Its true to say its a different experience here if you are retired, than if you have to work.

What hefty taxes are you worried about paying now? Capital gains? You know the rates been reduced dont you. Are you officially a resident in Spain, i.e. have a residents card / certificate?
