Default Staffordshire

Hiya, I am hoping for some help regarding a proposed move to Staffordshire...which areas are better off avoided, for a family with 2 teenage kids? We need to be reasonably close to Tamworth for football training. I know there are good and bad places the world over, it's just a bit hard to suss it out from the other side of the world!

Tamworths not a bad place at all, lots of facilities, near to Birmingham but far enough away. Nice countryside
Lot of newer houses and estates

Tamworth Borough Council

Default I would recommend

Tamworth is cheaper to live in, but for kids it may be better to be around Lichfield, slightly more expensive, but you get a nicer safer feeling for your kids being out and about.

Have you relocated already? If you need any help please let me know, I can do property search etc and have assisted with relocation in the past.

Hi. I have lived in Fazeley, Tamworth for 18 years now and I like it here.
There is plenty to keep the kids occupied Bowling, Swimming, Skiing, Ice Skating, Tamworth Castle, Karting, Small Skateboard park, Kingsbury Water Park for water sports, The Belfry Golf Club and Drayton Manor Theme Park. Most of these are within walking distance.

Town centre shopping is a bit poor, card shops and building societies but there is a large out of town shopping centre, Ventura Park and the Jolly Sailor retail park. 3 major supermarket chains, Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons.

Several senior schools available. The main two are QEMS (Queen Elizabeth Mercian School) and Rawlets.

Tamworth is in a good position for commuting to other areas as it is located near 2 junctions of the M42, J9 and J10
Birmingham City Centre is about 20 - 30 mins drive away. 15 mins by train. London is only 1h 20 mins away on some trains.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I am looking to move to the same area next year with a teenage daughter. Have you received any useful information with regards to a nice area and schooling for your teenage kids?

We lived in Lichfield - cathedral city but more like a town, quite lovely, close to Tamworth, but property is a little bit more expensive. My teenage daughter just went back for a visit and loved it around that area. For schools John Taylor is probably the best that is closest to Tamworth (form what I've read) Check the BBC's guide to best schools.
