Default possibly moving to Aberdeen

Hey, My company wants to move us to Aberdeen from Houston, TX. They offered a salary at about 65000pounds. how does that relate to the area? My wife want to not work and travel and Im not sure that salary will allow us to live comfortably and get around to see europe for the 3 years we will be there.

Can someone comment?

Thanks

hi,

i live in aberdeen. its extremely expensive. probably second to london.

so it depends,
do you have kids? is this company of yours gonna pay for your house? gas prices are about 3-4x's that of the US so that adds up as well.
its expensive to fly out of aberdeen airport and destination options are limited compared to other areas of the uk.

however, scotland is awesome.

We do have two kids and they will pay for a house up to 1600.00. We want to come, but want to make sure we can still pop around Europe for a look

hahaha.... ahhh to work in oil!!!

well, if they're gonna cover your rent I'd say you should be sound financially for a few short breaks.

the price of things here is a lot higher, so even though the exchange rate favors the pound... it would be like making 65 grand or even a less back home. so if you look at it like that....

HMMM, That amount doesnt sound to promising money wise. You are right about the limited flight destinations. I was hoping for something a little more travel friendly with the likes of EZJet and such.
