Default Tier 5 running out...marriage?

I'm a teacher from Canada working in London. I've got 3 months left on my Visa and am trying to work out how to stay. I've got a flat, a boyfriend, and am just not ready to move home. My boyfriend and I talk about marriage, it's something that we want to do eventually anyway. Can I get married on the Tier 5 Visa? My only other option seems to be job sponsorship but it's hard to get placed permanently in schools. I'm trying my best to stay here on a job, but is marriage a possible option for us?

You can marry on Tier 5 (as your visa was originally issed for longer than 6 month - 2 years), but to stay on (get further leave to remain), you need to meet the financial requirement. Luckily, as you are allowed to work in UK, all you need to show is that between you, you have earned at least £18,600/year gross for 6 months working for one employer. If you've been doing supply teaching through an agency, that will count as one employer but if you've been employed directly by a school, then you must be on that post for the past 6 months. Any savings above £16,000 between you can count towards the requirement too, using the formula: missing amount x 2.5.
