Default Unborn child included in application

I am currently pregnant. On my husband's application we will put "no" to having any children, as at the time of applying this will be correct. By the time we enter the UK our child will have been born. Obviously we cannot provide details of dependent children as we don't have one yet! The application says to state any children that will be travelling with us to the UK. Should we put that we are expecting a child, and the child will be travelling with us on a UK passport?

I contacted WorldBridge about this issue and they seemed totally stumped. Took them 7 days to reply to me with "you should declare all relevant information or any upcoming changes in circumstance in the visa application". Unfortunately they did not explain how to do this! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

No, you cannot include any unborn children in your application, but he or she will need a visa if a foreign national or their own British passport to enter UK. So just apply for your own visa (don't mention any unborn children as it's irrelevant) and when he or she is born, get a visa or passport as appropriate. Is one of the parents a British citizen otherwise than by descent?

Thanks for your reply. That's what I thought I should do. I am a British citizen, so he will gain citizenship through me. I intend on applying for a British passport for him after he is born. At the time of our application we won't have a child, so it isn't as if I am lying. When we enter the UK the border patrol officer isn't going to know if I stated we have a child or not, right?

I have written a letter for my husband's application explaining that we wanted to move to the UK because we are expecting a child, but maybe it would be best to omit that part?

Thanks again.

It doesn't really matter either way. They will ignore it anyway. From legal point of view, only a born child is subject to immigration or passport rules. I'm not tempting fate or anything, but not every pregnancy leads to a live birth.

Right. No one can predict the future, and that's where my confusion came in. The form doesn't have a provision for being pregnant so it seems as if they don't care about this situation? WorldBridge said they escalated the question and asked some authority but who knows how accurate that is?

Thanks again for your advice!
