Default dont see my job ?????????

hi all
this is a shot in the dark but in the uk(scotland) i work maintaning the railway siganlling equipment . this involves repairing equipment such as signals points etc..
i know oz must have a vast railway and that there must be an equivalent job to mine but the nearest i can get on the list is electrical technician/engineer.
my wife is a teacher (primary) and i'm sure she would be fine.
however as we have two young kids i would prefer to work full time etc....
how do i go about this?
am i better being sponsored?
anybody know of rail companies that do maintenance work?
any help would be great
derekb

Hi there,

If you apply for a general skilled visa with your wife being the main applicant then you won't have any problems in working (I can't see your job on the SOL).

Generally applying for a visa that will give you PR straightaway is the best option (although it takes a bit longer to get).

Have you looked at the sticky at the top of the forum page (please read...helpful websites..). There's a link to DIAC which gives details on all the visa options and their requirements/restrictions.

Dolly
