Default Which place is best?

Hi,

We're considering moving to Oz, but we don't know where the best place is to settle. We have 3 young children. We have a friend in Perth, but is that the best place to go? I know it would be in a way that we know someone. I also have family in Queensland.

Depends once again what you want...
If you want to ski for example and you live in Perth, you have to fly....
If you hate 5 months of humidity, Queensland is not the place...

Its swings and round-abouts.

It not that there are bad places in OZ - Its just they are very different.

Well, I'm orignally from South Africa, so hot weather would be great. I met my husband here in England, so that's why I've stayed. But Englands weather is pretty rubbish at times, and we don't always get a good summer. If we do, it doesn't last long. We can't get much for our money house-wise here and we don't have the beaches like back home which Oz beaches remind me of.

LOL, I spend 20 years in SA....
Depends - if you actually like South Africans - then Perth is the place

BOTTOM LINE - OZ is SA without the problems.

Lol. It's hard to know where to start looking really. I'm only thinking of Perth because my friend and her family have moved there.

Go there..... its a great city - you can always move... having friends helps heaps. Nowhere in OZ is bad....

RULE 1 : Forget cities - decide WHY you want to leave and take it from there.

I agree with Halo completely. If you have a visa that allows you to live anywhere in Oz then think about what you and the family want.

We didn't know anyone other than the real estate agent when we moved here but we've got out and made new friends - if we can do it so can any one else

Regards,
Karen

Geez, this is such a difficult and subjective question.

As covered above, it all depends what you want. Hot and humid (North Qld), wall to wall sunshine (gold-sunshine coast/Perth), the four seasons (Victoria or SA).

We chose Vic because it's similar to back in the UK but higher temperatures. We've just gone through a winter here and it's like we've been waiting for it to kick it...but hasn't. No really wet, cold, drab, grey days at all....probably only put a fleece on the whole winter. I like having the diversity and changes of the seasons.

Perth has beautiful scenery and weather but just remember that you will have to travel thousands of miles to get to another State so it's pretty cut off therefore make really sure it's the place you want to end up living. Some people embrace Perth, some people can't wait to leave.

Dolly
