After being paranoid because I found out that my occupation was flagged for removal, I went ahead and lodged the 175, well it turns out that my application for Victoria Ss was accepted just now. The thing is that I thought one would have to wait 12 weeks - but its only been about 3 and not even.
Is there a way to retract the 175 application and go for the 176 without losing money? :(

Ooooooooooooooooh somebody's been hiding things from us :p :p :p :p :p :p Do join the priority 4 applicants club and ask voddy to add your details to her excel sheet: http://www.expatforum.com/expats/au...riority-3-now-priority-4-applicants-club.html

There isn't any way to retract your 175 application without losing money unfortunately. But even though you got the state sponsorship, just let it lapse and cross your fingers for the 175. Unofficially, the processing has reached till May 2011 so you can't be very far off. In the meantime you can save up some money. I am hoping to get a quick grant myself, but if not, then you should be getting your visa just around the time I will get mine. And 175 will mean you can live anywhere you like in Australia. You don't really want to leave out Sydney as an option do you???

Thanks for your encouragement - that is so nice of you but still a bit depressed... I guess the moral of the story - never panic and rush into things...
I really wanted this though... I keep reading the email over and over - oh well
Sighhhh

depends on when you want to be in AU, if it is asap then retract, loose the money, apply all over again, if you can wait then let the 175 be.

Yes - that occupation and others are flagged for removal. I don't know when they're going to remove it (them, I should say) but I guess at this point, the important thing is that we've already lodged our applications. I'm pretty sure by July 2012 "Systems Analysts" won't be on schedule 1 - probably schedule 2, but I really don't think schedule 1.
