Hi folks
I am a 46 year old IT worker (field engineer, computers , comms, ATM cash machines..worked for IBM, Fujitsu, Canon UK)
How strict is the 45 age limit ?, I have two children aged 13 and 16 and I have just sold my house (hence have a sizeable lump sum)...also, I am pretty confident that I could find a decent job from looking at ads and sending my resume to a few
Wish I had applied a couple of years go....am I now too old ??

VBB

Hi,

I think you will find that if you are able to be sponsored, on an employer or business entry visa, then the age limit of 45 can be stretched to 55. I would say to give the Australian Embassy a call in the UK and speak to the immigration officers there who will confirm or otherwise but I think that is right.

Good luck. Paul

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

As Paul said the age limit is higher if you are sponsored. Have a look at the sticky at the top of the forum page "Please read....", there's a link to the DIAC website which will have details and restrictions of sponsored visas.

Dolly

the best would be to contact some consultants or the big companies, the big companies are the ones who normally sponsor and the consultants would help finding them . wish you luck

Hello VBB,

46 is not impossible but you will have to be looking at a regional (RSMS) or ENS employer sponsored visa. You will also have to obtain a skills assessment, preferably in one of the MODL IT specialisations.

Feel free to email me your CV for a full assessment or if you want to chat about the best pathway.

There is also of course New Zealand - no 45 age restriction and IT professionals are in demand too.
