Question Do I need to apply for ACS RPL or Skills?

Hi Everyone

Please help me this is a bouncer for me i.e. Option 3 or 6 on ACS Online application portal?

I am a Electronics and Communication graduate.

I have 3.2 years of IT experience. I am working as a Senior Software Engineer.

Am I eligible for Skills assessment through ACS.

I am applying for ACS assessment online and selected 3 option as "Skills Application Type".

Can I go ahead and apply for my skill assessment through option 3 ?

Please shed some light as it is getting really complicated for me to decide (July 2012 deadline is impending )

Hi,

I am working as a Senior software engineer and have 4 years of IT experience.

And am Electronics and Instrumentation graduate. (but with few ICT related subjects;
a. programming in C
b. Software Engineering
c. Microprocessor and Micro controller
d. Programming in Java
e. Computer networks

Am confused whether to apply for skill assessment under general skills category or RPL category.

Please suggest me in which category i should apply for my skills assessment ?

I have seen few ECE graduates in ds forum who have applied for ACS skills assessment and got the results. So apply under general skills and RPL is not reqd.

Good Luck. Cheers.

Hi Maddy,

My question is about applying for ACS assessment in Group-B category.

And in "Australian Computer Society PRE-ASSESSMENT SKILLS APPLICATION (PASA) GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANT" doc it is said that a miniumu of 5years of IT experience is required to apply in this category.

Please suggest.

Thanks.

Ohh okay...as per the guidelines then you may need to wait till u complete 5 yrs.. Meanwhile you can drop a mail to assessment@acs.org.au with the details of your experience and your UG degree...ask them to suggest under which category your application can be submitted. I am sure they would respond with the possible options in your case.

Good Luck.

Hi Maddy,

As suggested, have contacted the ACS by mailing to assessment@acs.org.au.

And the reply is that i can apply under General Skills category (Group B), but then they are not sure about the outcome of the assessment as the Assessor only evaluates complete details after lodging the application.

Can some one please help if they are aware of any candidate with Electronics background (ECE or EIE) got positive skills assessment result. ( when applied @4years of full time ICT experience) ?

Regards,
Syam.

Hi syam,

I would recommend you to apply for ACS and get your skills assessed first. So that with the result of the assessment you can calculate the points and this forum members will definitely help you with the next possible steps you may consider to take further.

All the best.

When there is a will there is always a way :-)

Good Luck.
