Default How does Oz tv compare to Sky?

Hello all, would like to know how sat tv down in Australia compares to Sky back here in the UK. I know that most move out to have a more 'outside' lifestyle but reality dictates that a lot of time will be spent watching tv so it is important to know. Do you get all the Premier league football matches? UK soaps? We are in the early stages of looking to move out, probably to either Melbourne or Syndey areas. Paul

Hi Paul,

Rest assured you can still watch the Premier League in all it's glory here in Oz (albeit with an eleven hour time difference!). Most of the premier league is shown live on Foxtel (city subscribers) or Austar (country subscribers) via Fox Sports.
UK soaps are shown on UKTV via satellite but approximately 15 months behind the UK. Still, if you've already seen the episodes in the UK when you get to Oz you can bet your mates here you know what happens and win a very easy $50!

PS Cost of satellite subscription is about $60 per month with sports (excluding movies)

Cheers
Paul in Queensland

Premiership football? Surely, Paul, being from the cotswold region you're a rugby fan??? Or maybe a cheese chaser

Just spent 3 years in Cheltenham (escaped in June); and all those southerners where rugby, or worse MU fans

Hi Jane,
Not from Gloucester originally, I grew up in Bucks but work brought me here, RAF and I ended up staying when I left the forces. What brought you to Cheltenham for 3 years? Work?

Definately not a MU fan, I support the mighty! Spurs!!!!

Where abouts are you now then?

Paul

Hi Paul,

Tks for the info, good news about the footy.... even if it is out of synch! Cost not too bad either, I have full Sky package here but hardly ever watch the movies! I see you are in Queensland; we were out there earlier this year, changed planes at Brisbane and flew up to Cairns.. .lovey place but so humid. Then went down to Sydney for a few days before going over to NZ. We are split on a place to focus on.. Syndey, Melbourne and Brisbane! Time for some serious research methinks.

Paul

But oh so true! I was surprised at how bad tv is here. Adverts every 5 minutes on some shows, adverts in the wrong place in others (not sure whether because we're supplied from a local place since we are in the regions).

Good thing we don't watch it much either
No wonder most Aussies are out playing sports

Regards,
Karen
