Default DIAC and Good character certificate

Dear Members,

I am about to apply for immigration at DIAC. I would like to know should I apply for my good character certificate right now or wait for DIAC authorities to ask for documents?

I am concerned that obtaining character certificates will take time that will delay my application.

second question is that, I have lived in my home country 6 years back and only go there for my annual vacation. If I obtain character certificate now, what is the chances that DIAC will ask for the certificate in next 3 months. (I believe, validity of the character certificate is 3 months).

Awaiting for your guidance.

Thank you,
Regards,

Hi Leptpkurtic,

I lodged the application today itself. However I feel this is a bit complex procedure. Have you applied online?

As of now, I have attached my IELTS, ACS result, Form 80 and form 1221 to the website. I will be attaching B-Form and Passport copy in a day.

Is scanned copy enough or any kind of attestation is required. (I could not find any information about attestation in the website so I uploaded scanned copy of my own original copies).

Thank you in advance.

Yes, I have applied online. If you wait for a bit they will send you an automated email acknowledgement that will contain detailed information about attestation. The crux of it is:

No need to attest color documents. Just scan and upload. For black and white documents, make a photocopy, get attested, then upload. For translations you need to upload the original as well as the translation. Hope this helps!!!

Thank you so much leptokurtic! You are really helpful.

I received Automated email. It is asking for below documents:
1) B Form => I scanned it already
2) Passport copy => I scanned it already
3) Form 80, => I filled and will get signed and scan again.
4) Form 1221 => I filled and will get signed and scanned again.
5) IELTS results => Scanned it already

By Sunday, I will upload all of these documents.

Then it is mentioned that CO will contact me. I believe then I have to wait for them to come back to me.

That's right. But didn't they ask for recent and specific work experience and your educational degrees and transcripts???

They asked for below documents: Below is a part of email

Quote:
DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

If you have not already done so, you will need to provide the department with the documents listed below by attaching these documents to the eVisa browser:

- copy of passport Personal Particulars/Photograph(bio-data) page;
- IELTS English Test Report Results;
- evidence of recent Australian qualifications - this includes transcript(s) and letter(s) of completion or evidence of recent work experience;
- form 80 - Personal Particulars for Character Assessment;
- form 1221 - Additional Personal Particulars Information;
- passport photograph;
- receipt for application for AFP check and your AFP check (if you have applied for an onshore GSM visa);
- evidence of arrangements to undergo a medical examination (if you have applied for an onshore GSM visa);

Hi, LifeisGood

I just lodged my application yesterday. Any idea of how many months? A friend of mine was saying 8-10 months. Is it the same for you?
