Thumbs up Can I still get a visa?

Hi all,
I have some questions about moving over from the US that you guys can hopefully help out with and set me on the right track. So my love affair with Oz started awhile ago and was moved up to a “I am going to live there” thought process when I visited on a scuba diving vacation for 2 weeks last year. I’ve taken the initial point’s evaluation thing and I have a score of 100. I know that the minimum is 120 for the independent skilled visa. Is there any hope for me to get the chance to live in Oz? I’ve heard about a sponsored visa, and how hard it is to get that. I’ve read some great things from some of the people posting on here that with the help of an agent that they got a visa when they thought they wouldn’t and it looks like I’m kind of in the same boat. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice to help with my situation. Thanks in advanced for your help!

Jenn

Hi Jenn,

There are links to all the visa types in the "PLEASE READ...." post and there are also links to see if your skill set is in demand. When you are doing your points list I believe that there are points if English is your first language so don't forget to include those too.

You can get sponsorship and there is state sponsorship as well as employer sponsorship. If your skills are in demand then these are possible. Sponsorship can take longer to find but then is quicker to get here once you have it whereas permanent visa take longer to get here but once you are here you have more choice and don't have to apply again for another visa.

As you've seen there are agents on the forum and the first consultation is usually free. We are one of those that wouldn't have got in without an agent (and 2 agents turned us down but the 3rd one got us in).

Regards,
Karen
