Talking Never too early to have a clear out!

Just wanted to say at whatever stage you are in the visa process, start sorting through your things sooner than later. I leave in November and will be shipping a few boxes (maybe a few more, but don't tell my fella ) by Pickfords, plus desperately trying to get the builder in to sort out some plaster work so thought I would start the packing and charity stop runs now rather than leave it to the last minute! 5 bags to charity, 8 bags to the bin and a car boot sale later and my flat still looks full!
I am such a hoarder, I mean what do you do about all the notes that you take at Uni? Now as it turns out I have since used some of the text books at work, but even still. I'm sure I should just chuck the notes! I have loads of momentos from various holidays and from grandparents. But at least by starting the job now, each time I revisit a pile, I bin some more, plus I'm hoping that I can then spend the last month enjoying spending time with friends rather than clearing out my things.
So, start early!

DON'T KEEP YOUR SCHOOL NOTES!!!! Text books, sure, but not the notes!!! I saved mine for awhile, then the wife made me get rid of them. That was years ago and have never even missed them....

As for your other stuff, if you have not used it in the last year or two, you probably will not need it.

I have started.................
got another boot sale booked, given loads away, and still got a houseful! Filled 5 bags with shredded bank statements, college notes, old receipts etc etc ect, and doing a tip run!!!!

We are now looking for a 40ft container; what we don't want when we get there is in a garage sale!

And, we haven't even got our visa yet; manic or what???

Jane

What's a "Boot Sale"? Similar to a yard or garage sale?

We've only just started thinking about going to Oz/NZ and I've already started asking the question "If we were going tomorrow would I keep it?". It'll probably only last a week but it's a start!
