Default Removalists for move from US (Virginia)

Greetings All,

Wanting to get removalists experiences from anyone who has moved from US. We want to use a major global company, but would like know what was covered in the door-to-door packages and if there are any horror stories.

Thanks

horror stories? it depends on your definition of scary

I didn't have a terrible experience but I was frustrated to find that my "door-to-door" payment did not include a $400 Aussie customs charge (that's standard, everyone has to pay it) and even though we were quoted a six-week turnaround to receive our stuff, it took four months.

apart from that they were alright. the ring leader of the collection was kind of rude but the two men actually doing the work were very kind. Most of our stuff arrived in one piece.

Thanks Tiffani. What Removalists did you use? You came from NC, right? We're in southwestern VA, so I expect our experiences would be similar.

Yes, we left out of Durham.

We used Nationwide Movers. I would be hesitant to recommend them, but I can't say our experience was any worse than anyone else's. I guess you should just expect that it's going to suck no matter what the company tells you when they are pitching their company to you.

One thing that was good was that they offered a binding estimate, so as long as the shipment didn't weigh more than the estimated weight, they couldn't increase the price. Of course, our shipment weighed much less than the estimate, but they found an excuse not to give us a refund, either... so there you go...
