Well eventually spoke to my parents today to explain

it was time to tell people.

Glad to hear it went so well with your parents!
That is always such a worry! They are probably
looking forward to all the holidays in Oz now

Regards,
Karen

Hi Bev,

I am also glad it went well for you. I don't know your reasons for moving to Australia, but I know that it comes with so many feelings. You just responded to me (thank you for your lovely encouragement by the way) so you know I basically did the same thing. I really get the "they were almost excited for me". It's so exciting what we are doing that even people who are in their own lives can't help but react to the fact that were moving to AUSTRALIA. My mom who once traveled to Australia put on her Australia bush hat and burst out into "Waltzing Matilda" it was certainly a moment I will hold on to in the midst of others I will let go of.

Best,

Tiffany

I remember, when I told my nephew of 10 that I would be moving to OZ in an year or so, all he said was, couldn't you move to someplace that is closer.. when I asked him why, he said no I can not come to australia every few months to visit you, but its alright, atleast i can come for longer time every year and we will have fun.

My parents are not really creating a fuss over it but my husbands parents were not very happy about it, till we told them that once we are there and are settled we can sponsor them and they too can be with us. Don't know how feasible would it be, but keeping the hope alive.

wish you luck bev

Congratulations dnex721,
Always difficult letting family know, and they think you are moving to mars, but once settled you see more of your family than ever. We moved two and half years ago and see and speak more to our families than we did when we lived down the road. The time you spend together when they come over is quality time. Go for it and good luck with your plans

Default Hi dnex721 congratulations

Congratulations,
It is very difficult letting family know that you are emigrating and at first it is very hard for them to accept that their family is moving to other side of the world, but once they do accept the change you see and hear more from them as you did when living close by. We emigrated two and half years ago, and we speak and see more of our family than ever before, they visit every year and we speak twice a week on the phone. The world is a smaller place and its only a plane ride or a phone call away. They will accept your change and you will spend quality time when they come over. Good luck
