Hi Nixxie,
like you i am off to Adelaide..... hopefully by november
The city is lovely, the people friendly, the area so pretty.
Depending on what you are looking for, rental can get expensive in and around the city itself; however other areas are cheaper.
Jobs seem ok, and i believe the area is having a bit of a boom! Check out the Adelaide advertiser on line; i am sure you will find many jobs......
Good luck
Jane

Hi Nixxe1981,

I love South Australia! I moved here from the UK in July 2007.
As Samag asked what do you do? That may guide where you want to work.
Adelaide is the capital city and it's a beautiful old city (by Aussie standards ) with lots of big open spaces.
The next 2 big cities (by SA standards ) are Whyalla (North of Adelaide) and Mount Gambier (25,000 people SE of Adelaide by about 440kms). I live in Mount Gambier. If you want to know why do a search on 'Mount Gambier' and you should find my previous posts.

The State has about 1.3 million people and about 1.2 million of them live in and around Adelaide so a lot of meetings and facilities are based in Adelaide.

The transport down here is mainly by car, coach or plane since the trains don't go this far down south any more. There is talk of re-opening the lines but I doubt that it will happen.

For climate see Mount Gambier weather forecast, Bureau of Meteorology Warnings & rainfall - that's for Mount Gambier but you can change it for whatever you want.
The further North you are in the State the hotter it gets...

Rental and property links can be found in the "PLEASE READ...." post towards the top of the forum.

If you have any other questions about SA feel free to ask on the forum and I'll do my best to answer them

Regards,
Karen

If you check out some of the job websites such as SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site that may give you a better idea about the jobs and whether you have to start from scratch. I don't know what is needed to work as an HR professional but it may be that youe skills can be transfered.

Regards,
Karen
