Default Entry level job with experience in banking

Hi all,

First let me thank everybody who has been helpful in giving tips and suggestions when we were making the move to Australia. It has now been almost 4 months since we moved to Geelong and we are loving every bit of it.Now that I have got to used the place I have been looking for work.I am currently on dependent 457 visa and was wondering would it be difficult to get a Job on this visa.I have been applying for quiet a few Job positions n Melbourne but been unsuccessful in securing an interview.I have worked as Banking officer and Business Analyst for 4.9 years in India. Now I am here in Australia with my Husband.I know it will be difficult to get a job in a similar capacity so I have been applying call center or data entry jobs in Melbourne to start with. But even that seems difficult. Was just wondering if i am missing out on something.

Hi mpp,

Are you getting any feedback as to why you've been unsuccessful? Personally I think the first job is always the hardest - employers may be wondering whether you will leave Australia and you've no local experience.

Have you tried Unity4 for call centre from home work?
Unity4

You may need to register (which is free) to see available roles.

I've been earning some extra cash with them for the last few months. They asked me to send a resume and then interviewed me by phone.

Cheers,
Karen

Dear Karen, I would like to know how much exactly are you earning out of it. I'm myself moving to Melbourne very soon so wanted to have an idea what my wife can do from home as I suppose she will be expecting by then.

Cheers

If you do the free registration to access the Unity4 website you'll see what campaigns are on offer since different campaigns offer a different hourly rate. It usually above the minimum hourly rate plus bonuses and superannuation. You can work 8 hours a day from home - so if the hourly rate is $19 an hour - $152 a day before tax and bonuses.

Cheers,
Karen

Hi All ... My husband is a Senior KEy account Manager handling Mutual Fund Sales .. He has 7 yrs plus experience in Financial Services industry. I have two questions for people who have migrated to Australia in a similar profile:

1) Is it true that one has to start at a clerical level in banks , and you are not eligible for managerial postions if you dont have local experience ?

2) What are the additional qualifications that could help in a good job relavnt to his experience ?

3) Any list of recruitment agents handling financial services industry.

P.s - We have applied for our PR

Look forward to your reply
Thanks,
Shruti
