Default vetasses/tradeset?

We're just starting the visa process with an agent and just after some more individual advice please.

My husband is a general plumber (not gas safe) we've filled in the tradeset form and it says that he doesn't have enough experience. Alot of the core elements were working with gas, which he doesn't do.

He is now thinking he will fail all the vetasses as he has no gas experience

Any advice please?

I too am looking for an answer to this, we were hoping to get state sponsored visa from WA for plumbing general as this is what my OH is, he did learn gas stuff originally but hasn't had work in that field for many years and hasn't done the roof plumbing that they seem to be asking about aswel.
Seems unfair since gas and roof plumbing are different jobs that are also acceptable for visa's, but why do you have to tick all the boxes for the general plumbing?

I hope this is just a glitch on the initial form and theres a way around it maybe if anyone know we'd be very gratefull for any help.

Our agent has spoken to vetasses, OH don't need to be qualified in the particular field as long as they have experience or knowledge/skills to pass the tests.
There is a company we're thinking of using called Downunder Tradies. The course is expensive at £3k but give you all the knowledge/skills your OH will need to pass the Vetasses tests. They have their own recruitment company aswell. They look at state and sometime job sponsorship.
So depending on how serious your move is, like ours may be worth the £3k, and if your OH is self employed you can claim the course through the business as its job related training.
Hope this helps.
ps. Company is on web just do a search on google

Thanks francy, so you have been advised that if you kind of know how to do (and as such could do it if tested) then to tick yes to get through the Tradeset questionaire.

You don't actually have to prove that you've done work involving those aspects, so when you have to hand in all your references and job descriptions it doesn't matter if they aren't all on there, as long as you know what to do?

Thanks for the answer, keep me updated on how you go on with the skills training/testing. I'll show the site to my OH, although it is a lot of money. I've seen a lot of people say you'll have to do a training course in Oz, to be able to work as a plumber aswel. I wonder if this is acceptable or not, if so its money well spent, but i have a feeling like anything you'd go over there and be told you still need an actual oz qualification to get your white cards and license etc

Do you know how much the acutal assesment is for Plumbing?

jen

p.s I can only find info on Electrical courses on the downunder tradies ???

Hiya

If you phone Down Under Tradies up they'll give you the details. Just ask to speak to someone about the plumbing courses. They start at the end of Sept I think in London and run for 4 weeks.
Let me know as think my OH will definatley be doing it as its probably our only chance to get over to Oz the quickest way.
