$21000 is that US or Aus? Because it wouldn't be enough in the eyes of DIAC either way. They usually require a min of $25k + an extra $5k for each dependent to show self sufficiency & the ability to support family.
Everyone in the US at around age 65 receives social security - the amount received is dependent on income and years worked. It is not a handout. You may be thinking of unemployment or SSI which is based on need.

I thank you for your input and will end the conversation here.

Hi Conniela,
I am recent permanent resident of AUS. I am from India and want to bring my parents here with me(51 Years old-47 Years old). Initially I am thinking to apply for tourist visa for my mom as she wants to stay with our 2 years old son. She says she is gonna miss him a lot ..
I hope we will get a tourist visa676 for her. So I want to know can my parents apply for any parents' visa at the same time? What amount I need to show as Assurance of Support?

Thanks for your inputs, I would also like to know how you managed the whole situation you were in--Thanks,
-Baljinsi
