Also whats the best way to get my Visa should i apply for a tourist one and while im over there look for jobs and somewhere to live and then apply for a skilled one or just the skilled Visa ? Please help its quite confusing xx

Hi Jennie,

Have you been through the sticky posts at the top of the forum? There is one that starts "PLEASE READ" and another "Thinking of emigrating?". They both have links to visas and other useful websites.

Have you checked to see whether hairdressing is in demand? If so then you have a variety of visas to choose from depending on your personal circumstances.

Most companies won't sponsor someone unless they can't get the same skills in Oz.

I was surprised that there are soooo many hairdressers where we are although they also do nails etc. as well. I'm in Mount Gambier and which has a population of about 25,000 but there are loads of hairdressers here.

For rent check the posts I mentioned above since they have links. Sydney is one of the most expensive cities in Oz by the way!

Once you have some of the answers from the sticky posts you'll be able to make an informed decision about which visa is best for you.

Regards,
Karen

Hi there, Hairdressers are in great demand all over OZ. They are top of the Skills list at the moment. Depending on how old you are and your family dependents as to what visa to apply for. I applied to the TRA and I can help you through the Visa process if you like. You can then avoid the high Agency costs. Sponcership route: you need to be under 30 to get a working holiday visa, if so you can try that way first and if you get a sponser - happy days. But, you are tied to them until you get another job. If you get a visa in your own right then you can work when and where you like and chankge career too if you wish. I am more than happy for you to call me at home on: 0208 508 2025, should you need any advise. Good Luck. Elisa

Please be careful giving personal info on a open forum since you don't know who could use it....
