The short answer is that overseas degrees are eligible, but in order to determine if your specific degree is recognized - that information will be determined by the agency that will assess your skills. You can usually tell if your degree is eligible depending on the recognition of the school's accreditation body (and the specific program you enrolled in).

Hi Sunil

Most Bachelor degrees(3 or 4 years) are accepted as being equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree. As long as your degree is from an institution recognized by AICTE (or other government education body) you should be fine.

Hi stormgal

Im pretty confident you will get a positive assessment. Just a matter of few weeks before you lodge your visa. We would then be in the same boat in the journey to the Land down under...

Question

Hi WeekrisH and stormgal,

Can you please help me in applying for ACS?

I have started preparing the documents needed for ACS as follows:

1) Experience Letter: If my employer does not give me the letter in the desired format,
I can show my experience through:
- Offer of employment letter.
- Compensation and Promotion Letters each year showing the continuation of job
- Yearly Salary Slips
- My CV with my job responsibilities
- A Statutory decleration from my senior in the company with my job responsibilitiies details.
Is that correct?

2) Attested copy of my degree
- 4 year Bachelor degree in Computer Science and Technology branch.
- All my subjects are not mentioned on the degree, but I have all the detailed marks sheets.
Will these work or do I still need the transcripts from my university?
3) Which Category should I apply for
- 261112 SYSTEMS ANALYST OR 261313 SOFTWARE ENGINEER?
- My exp is as follows:
Software Engineer(2 yrs)
Senior Software Engineer(1 yr)
Technology Analyst(1yr 10 mnths till date)...Total Work experience of 4yrs 10mnths...
4) Should I apply for ACS right now or Should I wait for another 2 mnths to complete 5 yrs of experience?

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks in Advance,

Regards,
Expatcdg...

Yes you can provide all of the mentioned documentation. You can also include Tax Returns, Awards received from your employer, Certifications etc. The statutory declaration would be signed by you and witnessed. Along with that you will also provide two references from your colleagues with their business cards.

2) Attested copy of my degree
- 4 year Bachelor degree in Computer Science and Technology branch.
- All my subjects are not mentioned on the degree, but I have all the detailed marks sheets.

This will do. As long as your detailed marksheets mention the courses you should be good.

3) Which Category should I apply for
- 261112 SYSTEMS ANALYST OR 261313 SOFTWARE ENGINEER?

Nobody here would be able to advice you on a professional level. Did you go through the description of the various ANZSCO codes for the IT occupations?
For your reference im providing links to the ones you have mentioned.

1220.0 - ANZSCO - Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations, First Edition, 2006

1220.0 - ANZSCO - Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations, First Edition, 2006

You are the best judge to determine which code you need to apply under. If what you do on a day to day basis matches what's in the description for the specific ANZSCO code
then that is what you would apply under.
If you are still not sure i would request you to consult a migration agent for an initial assessment. You can then proceed with the rest of the process on your own.

4) Should I apply for ACS right now or Should I wait for another 2 mnths to complete 5 yrs of experience?
The basis for awarding points on the basis of experience is still vague. It simply mentions that the assessing authority will be able provide inputs on your experience.
You have also raised a very valid point that at the time of lodgement you will have completed five years eventhough ACS letter would indicate your experience as 4 years and 10 months. If common sense prevails you should be able to claim points for 5 years work experience with a fresh experience letter. Again i would suggest you to talk to a migration agent to get a professional opinion.

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks in Advance,

Regards,
