Default Wanting to Relocate but have so many concerns

I am seriously considering relocating with my family to Australia or New Zealand in a few years, once I complete my college degree. However, being unfamiliar with the way of life in these countries can you please tell me the following:

1. I have twin boys that are currently 9 years old. One has petit mal seizures and is currently on medication. The other has a generic tic disorder and OCD and is currently on medication.

Being an American citizen how difficult would it be for me to get them healthcare and get their medications filled and any necessary medical care?

2. Unlike many who complain, I am very happy with our medical insurance and the quality of care we are able to obtain here. If we need to see a neurologist I can pick up the phone and be in within a day or so .... sooner if necessary -- with no referrals. Will I be able to do that in Australia, and what is the quality of care received?

3. How long can an American citizen remain in Australia if they do not revoke their citizenship? Can we stay for years or is there a time limit?

4. I am 44 years old. I've been a housewife mom for 15 years. I will be 46 when I complete my double degree in Forensic Accounting/Business Forensics. How difficult (if at all possible) will it be for me to get an entry level job at my age and with no experience?

I am certain there are many more questions I have, but right now these are my most troubling.

I do thank you all for your information and help.

I can't answer your questions regarding health care for your children, but first things first. To enter Australia and to remain there and work, you will need a visa. Go to Department of Immigration & Citizenship and click on "Finding a visa" to see what you might qualify for. Unfortunately, I think the maximum age for working visas is 45. The amount of time you can remain in Australia will be determined by the type of visa you get. Good luck!

On balance I think you'd be better off in Australia, but make sure you have good health cover so that you can access private care as and when you need to.

Where I am on the Gold Coast there are a number of private hospitals, including one that is dedicated just for children: The Allamanda. There's also the Royal Childrens in Herston, the Mater in Brisbane and John Flyn in Tugun who provide paediatric services.

To get to see a neurologist privately (or through the state system) in the first instance you'll need a referral from a GP, but that may be good for a year.

With regards to finding work, your age shouldn't be a barrier and there may be ways you can gain experience. Perhaps you could contact some local universities and strike up a relationship with them, find out where they send their students for practical experience and see if you can do the same.

Please check these forums...there are many threads addressing your issue.
I believe that you can go for Dual Citizenship without losing either of the citizenships.
