Default Shared Accommodation in Melbourne

Hi All,

I am moving to Melbourne on 11th July. I was searching for a shared accommodation initially for few months or even for few weeks until I find my own. Have visited many websites and tried contacting the agents but either no reply received or a regret note received stating they are in search of students or job holders ONLY.

Any one who has an accommodation available and interested to share can please PM me.

Thanks,

Have a look on gumtree, plenty of room shares to be had but there are some con artists on that site so watch out for yourself.

Thanks Anj.

BTW I got my ticket on Thai Air. The best deal for one-way Hyderabad-Melb 26450/- with 40+7Kg baggage allowance. I need to carry a lot of books and study material as well so planned to send all those stuff by India Post.

Good to read all your experiences post arrival.

Keep posting.

Good luck to you.

Devi

hi devi, indian post is good but do you have a forwarding address? where will you send them? Unaccompanied baggage was good too but then you have to go to the airport again for quarantine and customs, it did not take long but then you have to follow up if the luggage has arrived and where it has to be picked etc.. go with indian post if the stuff isnt much. make sure you do not make boxes bigger than 15 kilos, makes it easier for them to handle, if the boxes are very big they might just call you and ask you to pick them.

I am also looking for temporary accommodation for few weeks in Melbourne from July 1st. Please let me know if you guys know someone looking to share or may be affordable short term rentals. For some reasons i am not able to trust gumtree.I think, It is more like Craigslist many fake postings.

Hi Ricks,

This is exactly what I feel about gumtree. I dont know if even half of the postings are genuine. Anj has provided few contacts for shared accommodation. I will send em to your PM.
