Default I'm here.. my experience so far

Daughter is good, happy to be here, gave her pehnalgan in teh flight, 2 drops did the trick, she slept well, no fuss.

Melbourne looks rainy right now .. yeah it was sunny 5 mins back and then it rained adn now it is back to getting sunny.

yesterday i was a lil worried about things like job, house, car, husband not comfortable with the dogs in teh house so he locks himself in one room, the dogs are very physical, as in they jump on you which is an indication, they want u to pat them but then when someone has never been around dogs, it is difficult to digest 2 dogs, that too whippets.

we reached around 6.5 am, came out of airport around 7.30, damn there were atleast 600-700 people in ques at one time. the flight was awesome, I give 10 off 10 to Singapore airlines. we came in a A380 so yeah it was packed which meant more people for immigration but it was rather fast, we had some issue with carrying luggage from the belt to the quarantine/screening but the lady at the counter helped when i told her i have an infant, had the lil one not been around they would not have. the screening/quarantine was easy, screened everything, no questions asked. we told them we have medicines with invoice and prescription, nothing after that. and i had a bottle of milk i purchased for my daughter at singapore, they cleared that as well, i was also carrying gerber/hienz baby fruit purees from India for the flight, i just told them and nothing after that. i was surprised but i guess the number of people added to their load adn they were more interested in clearing the rush than what people are carrying but i did see a guy who came in our flight from SG carrying noodles, pastas, sauces and so many other things (atleast a carton full), they were not happy about it and made it easier for him, took almost half of his baggage and put it in the bin . Damn, why do people carry all this when they know you can not get it thru. i was ready for them to take the milk bottle adn the jars of fruit puree but i did not carry them with an intention of carrying them to AU, thought i'll use them in the flight and a few extras just incse i need it

we did have an issue at Delhi AIrport, while counting our luggage we realised we could not trace one bag that had my clothes and the baby's. called mom, she said confirmed we left it behind, asked my bro to go back and get it since we could not leave it behind. we were about 15 kilos over out permissible limit, was shocked as we were very calculative but now i know we can not trust the home weighing machines. paid about 13,500 INR.

after landing, came home (to a friend). teh taxi was no problem, we went to departure, the taxis were plenty, took teh big van, cost us 20$ from teh airport to Tullamarine (10 mins form the airport) wehre my friend stays. after that no problem at all, a little hassled about things, for a moment i thought, god, what have i done, why did i leave everything in India, a settled life adn come here but this morming it isnt that bad. woke up fresh and happy, washed the clothes, made some food, played with anika and here i am writing all this. No jet lag (this surprised me as well).

Did register both of us for TFN yesterday, Dear husband is off to register at Centerlink, get bank account active, get a phone number with a calling card for back home plus a few other things.

Will write more as soon as i can

Yay....you did it! Now the fun starts. Just be prepared for a month or so of feeling a tad unsettled. It takes a while to get your bearings, nothing is familiar - but you soon adapt and feel settled before you know it.

It's been a long time in coming but you've made it!

Sit back, and enjoy!

Dolly xxxx
