Default All Docs showing "Met"....but when the Grant??

Dears,

My 176(SS) Visa Documents checklist showing all "Met" and Health requirements finalized on 01/04/2011.

Then I asked my CO "How long it will take to complete my Visa process?"

CO Replied:

"We are awaiting outstanding checks on your application. These checks may take up to 12 months from initiation to be fully completed so we are unable to give you a specific date of when this will be completed.

The Australian Government requires all persons entering Australia to hold
valid visas. As part of visa processing, various checks must be undertaken
prior to visa grant.

We will be in contact with you should we require any further information
and you are asked not to undertake health and character checks until
requested to do so."

Experts

Can you please give me an idea how long it may take to get the Grant letter?...I though 176(SS) takes less time than 175..

Hello Nav179,

I would say it is quite frustrating to know that you have also been provided with the same standard reply as I (and many of my acquaintances) have been getting for long long time....

In particular, CO has been allocated to my case since Aug 09 (all conditions met including health & PCC), but verification checks(security) are still pending, for last more than 1 and half years.

According to my knowledge and experiences, certain application cases (high-risk applicants rather than hr/non-hr country criteria) are being referred to Australian security agency by CO. So, this agency have their own assessment criteria and time-frame for which even DIAC officials have no idea(they clearly state this fact). Therefore, if it is under the same flow, which I am talking about then its a long time span of waiting.....

PS: Just sharing my experience, not that objective loosening your hope nor to extend any negativity here. Hoping your case may not be delayed as mine under these kind of facts.

Not many cases are kept hanging at this level. Is something peculiar about your cases that makes it necessary for DIAC to go for these types of vigoures checks??

Actually I would like to know that myself too. You guys must have seen other people's cases. Aussieland in this forum has already gotten the visa. So many others have gotten the March 18 email. Could you please think about your own cases and tell us what kind of complicating factors you guys see which would lead to these lengthy background checks??? We would like to get to know what is the definition of 'HR Individuals' as aqswdefr keeps calling them.

Hi aqswdefr,

Which category visa you have applied for?(176 or 175). How much time they have mentioned for your case? Like for me they have told it may take up to 12 months?

I don't think there is any issue which may influence my CO to refer Australian security agency. I am hopeful it would not take so much time(12months!!!). Please pray for me and thanks for sharing your experiences.

Hi Gaurav,

When I submitted Form 80 then I mistakenly forgot to put my first employment info. and in another employment history forgot to put type of business of the company which I have worked for at Question 23. For these reasons I had to resubmit Form 80 two times.

Another thing was I requested my CO to add my sister's name as migrating dependent from non-migrating after my mother had expired. Then my CO told at that stage of application my sister's name cannot be added as migrating dependent, which might be possible if I added her name during filling my visa application. For this issue there were some mail exchanges and had to resubmit Form 1023.

Do you think these reasons may made it necessary for DIAC to go for further checks?

May be yes, as the more u write in exam the more time examiner will require to read ur answers.... as simple as I can think
