457 visa to skilled independent visa

Hi all,

I am applying for work with Queensland Health and have signed up for an interview in September. If I am successful, I will be working on a 457 visa. It's my understanding that on this visa I will be able to only work for that specific employer. If I complete 12 months work exp there in Queensland and want to move to another employer, will I be able to apply for a skilled independent visa? I'm presuming this would give me more freedom to work anywhere in Oz?

I can't apply for the skilled independent visa now as I don't have the 12 months experience required in my profession, as I am a new graduate. I can't gain the experience here as there are no jobs here in the UK at the mo!

Does anyone know much about these visa issues? xx
