Question 175 Application Taking time -- Is it normal / 2009 Applicant

Hi,

I followed my application as below, initially I added my sister and her son to my app. The case officer required additional documents which were sent in the given time accept the child custody doc.
Child custody case was filed and we requested for more time, which was given. Form 80 was asked and given in June 2010.
The decision is still not finalized, so I sent an application for change of status.
Saying to change the status of my dependents from migrating to non-migrating in March-2011, now it has been a month and still no reply.

Do you think I need to inquire about the status or be patient? Are there any similar situations been dealt before?

hi

welcome to the forum. from what i understand, you have taken your medicals and submitted the police clearance certificate very recently, it is always better to call them, at times they do not move the file for days, then people called to inquire and the next day they got their visa.

Thanks anj1976 for the reply,

By call do you literally mean phone call or contacting through email or other inquiring weblink.

Is it possible for you to paste any weblink for the contact details or just mention here.

Thanks again

whenever we called them it took us 20 minutes of waiting to finally speak to them, twice we were on hold for 17-18 mins and the call dropped

ok, so I called for a continuous 40 mins and in the next session for 10 minutes but could not connect.

Email worked, they replied saying that checks are going on.

So I am sure and hope too that this happens fast.

so now its been almost a 25 days since I last received word from the case officer,
Is this a normal duration for the clearance procedure?

Also what do you say about contacting them again, or should I wait for some defined time (which should be ?).

Can't seem to figure out why they are taking so much time.

HAHAHA. Normal processing time of background checks for Pakistani applicants seems to be 9 - 10 months. Didn't you ask in the email how long the checks might take?? But I am sure they would only have given you a vague reply. The only thing you can do is try again to call them. Otherwise go to sleep and wait for you CO to contact you...
