176 ss visa help please....

Hello!


I am a little confused! My boyfriend can apply for a 176 ss visa and we want to do this before 1st July. however does he need to have taken the skills assessment and passed this before we can lodge an application? If we do then i am worried as i understand that we may not get a date before then. If so i am assuming we can't apply as he wont qualify after July 1st.
does anyone know please.

Oh and also he doesn't have a trade qualification but does have over 10 years experience - we have been told this will give him 10 points but i an't see this anywhere on the immigration website - does anyone know about this too please.

Well, only Victoria accepts SS applications without skills assessment, but they need to see the assessment before they approve the case.

All other states need skills assessment before hand for applying SS.

Hi Armandra,

I hope I am replying in the right place - bit new to this. Thanks for the SS VIC info - good to hear we can apply for the SS visa before getting the assesment - why we didnt look into this 6 months ago I dont know!
