Default Moving to Australia

Hi all,

First time post here!

I am looking for a bit of advice. I am currently living in the UK and am desperate to get back to Australia. I was born out there and hold an Australian Passport (I also hold an Irish one). I have two children with my partner (who is British) and she also has two children from a previous marriage.

The two older boys father no longer sees them, however, he still has parental rights.

I have been told that it shouldn't be much of a problem obtaining passports for two younger children through decent, nor for my partner, but we will run into problems with the older boys (13 and 11) as their father is unlikely sign consent for the move.

I'm interested to know if anyone has been through anything similar and what they did?

I know all the children will have a better life in Australia and really don't want them to miss out.

Australia is probably nothing like it was when you were here. Australia is much more dangerous for youth than the UK.

My Sister moved to Hervey Bay with her son and daughter 18 months ago and says they are like different children. My nephew wasn't very active here. he is now involved in cricket, scouts and the navy cadets.

I can only really go on personal experience and information from these types of people and every thing is positive.

On the UK side of things, a business associate of mine who lives in a quiet Wiltshire village had his 16 year old son hospitalised by a group of 5 kids on his way home from school 3 weeks ago, so the UK isn't all roses either (although this is not the point of my thread).

Half the teenagers in hervey bay would be meth addicts.

Do you have loads of money to spend on an house? Anything under 500kAud will still put you in a very dangerous suburb in a dangerous school.

Don't come back to Aus because you think it will be better for your kids cause it won't. Only come here if you are running out of work or you miss the place. The cost of living here is 3 times of London and the established middleclass are the biggest bunch of snobs ever. Coming from the UK you really are up against it and right now an epidemic of British migrants are leaving.

Try to be more helpful and less aggressive with your approach, it works better

Weebie isn't the most positive of people and tends to make sweeping generalisations as if they were true about all of Australia which they aren't.

Big Paddy if you do a search on this forum you'll find other members who have had to go through the obtaining parental consent from an ex-partner and I think one involved a court proceeding.

Obviously your partner would also need a visa.

Regards,
Karen

what a load of garbage! An Australian who has moved to NZ tells something about the country you are from.

Please do NOT get personal. Everyone has a right to express their opinions whether we agree with them or not.

Different people will have different experiences here in Australia. It's a BIG place and very different in the cities to regional areas. The one thing we can't leave behind when we immigrate is ourselves and our own personalities will affect how we see the move to a new country.

Regards,
Karen

I am an Australian who is lucky enough to run a business in both countries!! I live in Australia and travel to New Zealand on a regular basis so I am lucky to enjoy the best of both worlds. Here in Oceania we refer to it as "Rubbish not Garbarge" thats an American term peace mate
