Default Should i wait or go ahead with 175 application

Hi All,

I am planning to apply for 175 visa, i have got positive signal from ACS & got 6 in each band of IELTS. This is taking my points total to 115.
I am already in Australia on 457 work permit & have completed 8 months here. Within 4 months i will complete one year of Australian work exp, and eligible to claim 10 more points and it will take my point total to 125.
Should i wait 4 months & then start my PR application or now itself i should start & finish it off. Anyways when case officer would be assigned i would have complete 1+ years of experience.
Another problem if i will wait for four months is that new point system will come in place from July 1st & that wont make me eligible again.
What should i do? Please guide.

Thanks,
Rahul

Hi Rahul

I think the point system works as on teh day of the application and not when a CO is allocated. Speak to an agent.

Other option is to take the IELTS test again and try to get 7 in each band as that will give you an extra 15 points, which will give you the required 120 points. I passed mine first time, so (maybe I am biased here) do not think that the tests are actually that hard - tricky, yes but hard, no. I'm sure that if you practice, then you'll be able to get 7 in each band.

Otherwise, you can go for state sponsorship.

But agree with Anj though. There are so many agents that offer a free visa assessment. Contact a few and based on the outcome, you'll have a clearer idea of the visa options that are available to you and how the rule changes might affect your chances of getting a 175 visa.
